Organizing your team

There are several places to organize a team from (I have a list below). One, very popular, choice is to go to one of many forums and post there for people.

List

Below is a list of forums and other helpful sites you can advertise on. These are divided into 3 categories (art, music and programming). Art are all sites that has anything to do about art (2d and 3d art)there you can advertise for a 2d artist, 3d artist (or both). Music are sites where you can advertise for sound, music maker or both (mostly both). Programming are sites where you can find different programmers (AI, Graphics etc).

Art

DeviantArt (http://www.deviantart.com)

Programming

Gamedev.org (http://www.gamedev.org)

Devmaster.net (http://www.devmaster.net)

(more to come soon)

Requesting

When you ask on a forum there are different things you should ask for:

Art

2d artist: ask for an example of his work (I.E. a simple sprite, a skin etc.)

3d artist: ask for an example of his work (I.E. a model, textured, lighted and perhaps animated? it depends on the complexity of your game but one thing you should always ask for is a finished modeled, textured and animated model)

Programming

  • A portfolio is a good idea. If you don't know what should be in a portfolio, check out our Programmer Portfolio page.

Music

Ask for samples of his/her music. If you are looking for a special kind of music you might want to ask especially for that kind of music.
