From Gamedev.org wiki
I'm kind of enjoying this wiki thing, so I figure I'll write up a bunch of stuff no one really wants to know. That's what the internet was made for anyway, right?
Wow, looking at the other user pages, it appears I'm the most narcissistic person here. Hooray!

Gaming
I love RPG's! Unfortunately, I don't have much time at all lately to play them. I thoroughly enjoy the first two Disgaea titles (the second was not as good as the first one, but both were enough fun to warrant 250+ hours of my time, which I don't regret spending). I loved Final Fantasy X as well; however, VI (III US) has always been my favorite.
Experience
These are things I'm at proficient with. I've trimmed out the crap I haven't used in years or have no interest in ever using again.
Operating Systems
- Gentoo Source-based with EXCELLENT package management. I run it on four of my computers (plus my EC2 instances).
- SmoothWall A lovely, small Linux distribution built to be a router/firewall; I use it at home.
- Fedora I became disenchanted with RPM's about a year back; before then I liked this.
- CentOS 4/5 A free build of RHEL. Works well as a server OS (but then, so do most nixes).
- Debian I've been putting this on laptops for non-tech people; it's quite excellent.
- Windows XP I don't much like Microsoft, but I certainly like XP.
Applications
- Apache Web server. I've run at least one (usually two) locally for years.
- nginX I've been using this in place of Apache for performance gains; VERY impressive.
- MySQL What kind of PHP programmer doesn't know about this?
- Memcache What's better than in-memory storage? Good head. That's about it.
- ConTEXT While I worked on Windows, this was my editor of choice.
- Geany Excellent open-source, lightweight IDE.
- Photoshop Who doesn't love PS? You'll love it more if you ever have to use Gimp. Bleh.
Services
- Amazon S3/EC2 S3 is kind of cool, but EC2 is AWESOME. It's the ultimate slice host; check it out.
Compiled
- C/C++ Mostly in college and for personal projects.
Interpreted
- PHP My specialty. Personal and professional projects for almost a decade.
- Javascript This gets better and better; I actually enjoy working with it for DOM manipulation now.
Markup
- HTML I guess this might as well go here, as I've used it since before I could write C.
- CSS Is this markup? I don't care, I'm not giving it its own heading.
- JSON Great, lightweight replacement for XML (which I don't like enough to put here).
State of the Phunion
Haha, get it?
I'm working with a web development company in Minneapolis; the project I'm on is wonderfile.net, an interesting but bloated online file management website.
A few months back, I started work on a Final Fantasy III-inspired MMORPG. 2D, tile-based, simple and fun, adapted from the original and glorious single-player game mechanics to bring together old-school RPG lovers. I got the client-server code working, but was pulled away from the project by life, which sucks.
